QSI Virtual School (QVS) is an online school offering over 50 courses. QVS supports the schools and students of Quality Schools International at their 37 schools worldwide. During the 2021-2022 school year, QVS enrolled over 500 students in our courses, with those students residing in over thirty different countries.

QVS supports QSI schools and students in many ways. These include:

• providing secondary courses for smaller QSI schools without an established secondary program   
• providing instruction for students with scheduling issues (e.g. a student needs to take a course required for graduation, but the course does not fit into the student's local school schedule)
• providing opportunities for elective courses that are not offered by the local QSI school
• providing a way to take course(s) required by student's prospective university.
• providing a way for Secondary III students to finish or to take a course in the summer, in order to avoid taking an overload course during final year before graduation.  
• providing summer school opportunities for students to recover units not completed during the academic school year
• providing opportunities for students to advanced their learning by taking a course during the summer

For the 2022-2023 school year, QVS is not accepting students from outside of QSI schools. 

As a full-time secondary student at a QSI school, QVS courses are paid out of the school tuition. Payment is arranged between QVS and the local QSI school. 

For summer school courses and unit recovery, all fees and tuition are the responsibility of the parents. These are not covered by regular QSI tuition. 

If you are interested in taking a QVS course, you should speak to your school's counselor or administration (director, director of instruction, academic coordinator). At this time, all QVS registrations must be made by your school's counselor or administration. This is to ensure that all prerequisite courses have been complete and that QVS receives accurate registration information.

Even though QVS offers more than 50 courses, there are some courses that we don't offer. In these situations, QVS partners with other online schools such as FlexPoint Global (formerly FLVS Global), VHS Learning, and K-12 Stride. 

The tuition and fees for QVS course can be found below:

QVS Tuition (1.0 credit course) - USD 1,000

QVS Tuition (0.5 credit course) - USD 500

AP course fee - USD 75

Synchronous course fee (for synchronous courses only) - USD 200

AP Lab fee (AP Biology, AP Environmental science, AP Chemistry) - USD 300

Although online learning at QVS offers many great benefits, online learning can be challenging for some students. Before registering for an online course, it is important to consider your strengths in the following areas: 

• Time Management Skills  - Are you able to manage your time effectively? Can you plan and follow a study schedule independently?

• Be Communicative –  Do you have good communication skills? Are you able to contact teachers when you need support and explain your needs clearly?

• Independent Endeavor –  Are you able to work independently?

• Be Independently Motivated –  Are you interested in learning new skills and knowledge? Have you set educational goals for yourself as a learner?

• Academic Readiness –  Do you have an interest in the course subject area?

• Technological proficiency -  Do you have the technology skills needed to be successful in online learning platforms?

All QVS courses are conducted online via Moodle, QVS's learning management system. Moodle has been a leading LMS for over two decades. QVS's Moodle site is hosted by eThink.

QVS's QSI courses are created so students can master the content without the need of a physical textbook. If a local QSI school has textbooks available and the QVS student would like to borrow one, they must arrange this with the local school.  

For QVS's AP courses, students are expected to have access to a textbook as part of the course requirements. The textbook is expected to be provided by the student’s local QSI school. If the school does not have access to the textbook, they must arrange for the purchase of the textbook prior to the start of the course. 

Effective communication is key for success in online learning. As a result, QVS teachers use a variety of means to communicate with their students. These included Moodle, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Outlook. 

QVS requires that each online student be provided with an on-site monitor at their local QSI school. A QVS Monitor is defined as a professional employee of Quality Schools International, who monitors the student’s progress, ensures the student has access to needed technology, is available for assistance, and ensures access to the QVS course teacher.

QVS Monitors serve as the liaison between the student, online instructor, parents, and administration. Some monitors are teachers or paraprofessionals, or they have other roles in the school, such as a librarian, counselor, or a school administrator. The QVS monitor provides that personal connection for students learning virtually:

• Working or checking in with the students daily
• Supporting the student
• Building a trusting relationship with the student

The majority of QVS courses are asynchronous. This means that students can work on their courses at their own pace. Having asynchronous classes also offers students greater flexibility, as these courses can be worked on  

AP Seminar and AP Research are both synchronous courses. The schedule for these courses is arranged in the spring and shared with all QSI schools. 

QVS employs eleven dedicated, skilled, and experienced educators to teach courses. All QVS teachers have experience at local QSI schools and are skilled at Mastery Learning. All teachers are also certified and experienced in the courses they teach.
