AP European History
Prerequisite: Literature II and Writing II (previously or concurrently) (As recommended by AP, students must be able to read college-level texts and write grammatically correct, complete sentences.)
Course Description: Students will acquire college-level knowledge and skills designed for serious history students. The course covers the major social, economic, political, and cultural dynamics of European history from the Renaissance and Exploration to the Cold War and Contemporary Europe. The big themes are: Interaction of Europe and the World, Economic and Commercial Development, Cultural and Intellectual Developments, States and Other Institutions of Power, Social Organization and Development, National and European Identity Technological and Scientific Innovation. Students will study 9 periods of European History spanning from 1450 to present-day while historical thinking skills and reasoning processes such as contextualization and argumentation.
