Prerequisite: 13-Year-Old Writing or equivalent level English course

Course Description: Writing I is typically a first-year secondary course that builds on the skills developed in 12 and 13-year-old writing courses; its focus is on developing students’ critical thinking and deepening fluency with language through the Writing Process. The course begins with personal narrative writing and then transitions into an exploration of various expository styles. Throughout the course, students will practice reflective thinking, further hone their research skills, and develop confidence in communicating their personal experiences and ideas.
